This summer, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) will make more history when it hosts the Big One for One Drop, the worlds first ever $1 million buy-in tournament.
The One Drop charity was started by Cirque Du Soleil’s Guy Laliberte and is a public charity that raises awareness on water-related issues, to convince people of the need to create universal access to water and to adopt positive habits for managing this precious resource.
The tournament starts on July 1st and 11.11% of each buy-in will go directly to the One Drop charity. Players already signed up to play include the likes of Guy Laliberte, Bobby Baldwin, Tony G, Phil Ruffin, Andy Beal, Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan, Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Chan, ElkY, Sean O’Donnell and Dan Shak.
If that wasn’t enough, the World Series of Poker has just announced a satellite qualification program. This means that you can participate in the historic event for as little as $65. Numerous gaming properties in the United States have committed to host live step-satellites and each of them will create a $25,300 buy-in for the culminating satellite for the $1,000,000 seat. This extraordinary event will take place at the WSOP on June 30th 2012. One seat will be created for every 40 entries in the June 30th satellite.
U.S satellite will take place at locations such as The Bicycle Casino, Los Angeles, Harrahs, New Orleans and Palm Beach, Florida – if you can’t make the events then Betfair have a number of Betfair poker online competitions that all can enter.
